ISTQB is International Software Testing Qualification Board

To have or not to have ISTQB CTFL certification is always a myth to most software testers.

The main reason, I guess, is most software testers are very good at testing the software without realizing “Testing” is only part of the whole software testing life cycle.

I can’t be denied that ISTQB is setting the benchmark on the minimal requirement a software tester needs to have, and I think ISTQB is more like a standard for every software tester to have the same definition and understanding of the terminology of software testing, regardless of the person experience level or career background.

Smooth communication could be easier to achieve when every tester has the same definition, term acceptance criteria, and glossary that may describe the situation when a problem is found in the software.

Hence, in my opinion, it’s always good to have ISTQB-Foundation Level Certification in your pocket. This could give you a very good head start in the software testing industry.
